Huesca beat Alcórcon 2-1 in what was a strange game. In the first half, Huesca dominated possession while Alcórcon had the better chances, while Alcórcon dominated possession in the second half and Huesca had the better chances early on in the second half. I turned the match off when both Sergio Gomez and Cristo were subbed off.

Sergio Gómez

  • Nationality: Spanish
  • Age: 19
  • Date of birth: 04/09/2000
  • Club: SD Huesca, on loan from Borussia Dortmund
  • Career: Espanyol (Y), FC Barcelona (Y), Borussia Dortmund, SD Huesca (L)
  • Position: Attacking midfield
  • Secondary position: Left Wing and Right Wing
  • Preferred foot: Left

Sergio Gómez played as a right winger in this match but got subbed off after 55 minutes. He often tried to attempt a dribble while he already was in a busy area and even though he was very agile and good in the tight spaces, it was not the right choice as he had plenty of better options. When in the 1v1 duels, he looked comfortable but he still lost a lot of duels as his direct opponent kept looking at the ball. Sergio Gómez made some unnecessary and clumsy fouls. He tracked back well throughout the game.

Sergio Gómez was sloppy in possession and did not get into possession often. The Dortmund loanee could have been more active in possession. He liked to move inside in possession but did not get into good areas from where he could be more threatening. Once, he got into a good position to give an inswinging cross but he put way too much power on it. He gave a pre-assist after he played a smart pass between two defenders but that was the only thing he did well in this match. Also, his right foot was mediocre.

Rating – B2

I won’t say that he is not talented, but I expected way more from him then I saw, and did not see that many promising signs.

Cristo

  • Nationality: Spanish
  • Age: 22
  • Date of birth: 24/10/1997
  • Club: SD Huesca, on loan from Udinese
  • Career: CD Tenerife (Y), Real Madrid (Y), Udinese, SD Huesca (L)
  • Position: Striker
  • Secondary position: Second Striker and Left Wing
  • Preferred foot: Right

Cristo played as an attacking midfielder in this match, but was often found playing as a striker next to the experienced Shinji Okazaki. He was good in transition and did well to be actively trying to open up a passing lane for his teammate and move into space. The 22-year-old had an amazing finish at the 1-0, as he volleyed the ball in the bottom corner very confidently. He proved to have good vision when being put under pressure and was very calm under pressure as well.

He was able to cut away from opponents well. Cristo created one chance and had a good over the top through pass towards Sergio Gómez, who could not connect to the ball with his weaker right foot. Cristo showed a good passing technique as he put a lot of feeling in his passes. He covered a lot of ground in defence and had a good first touch, while also being able to link up with his teammates. He occasionally turned the wrong way which led ot possession loss, but had good dribbling ability. At once, he showed good hold-up play but he made the wrong decision.

Rating – A1

I am not too sure on his potential but it was a very good performance by Cristo.
